Description: Another problematic power strip, made by Kopp of Germany. As you can see both the plug pins and the earth scrapers are almost black instead of their original brass colour. In fact the corrosion is bad enough that the strip did not work at all when I first tried it!

Description: This Legrand power strip rattled and one end seemed cracked - this is what I got when I pulled slightly with my fingers. I didn't use much force! The cord (1.5 m long) is only 1.0 mm2, which is liminal for the 16 A rating.

Description: Rare French electricity meter which I scored of the web. It measures in Hectowatthours instead of kilowatthours. The decimal wheel is actually 10 Wh indication. Meter is rated 110 / 130 Volts 50 Hz. France used 127 Volts networks in the past and there are probably still some of those networks around.
